Rhodium Plating

We are pleased to announce that we now offer in house rhodium plating! Most of our jewelry, including the sterling silver Charleston Rice Beads, can be upgraded. Our fee for rhodium plating is minimal, intended to cover our costs so we may continue providing you with the superb quality you’ve come to expect from us. 

What is rhodium? A rare precious metal belonging to the platinum group of metals and is known for its extreme hardness, high reflectivity, and extraordinary resistance to corrosion and tarnish. Its rarity and durability make it the most valuable natural precious metal, even more so than gold. 

Rhodium plating is a coating of rhodium over base metal, usually sterling silver or white gold. It leaves a bright lustrous silver finish which helps prevent tarnishing and scratches. 

Caring for rhodium plated jewelry-Rhodium plated jewelry may still require cleaning due to normal buildup of personal care products and body oils, etc. Avoid harsh chemicals as they may cause plating to wear off more quickly. Any metal plating can wear off over time, depending on frequency of use and care taken to maintain it. Rhodium is no exception, but plating can be re-done to restore that brilliant shine.
